Gun Parts are a crucial upgrade material in Ghost of Yotei, which are required to max out all of Atsu’s melee and ranged weapons. Players who want to get powerful quickly will want to know exactly where to find these items as soon as possible.
Gun Parts are late-game items, and players have no intended way of obtaining them without progressing the main story. Fortunately, there is a little-known mission that allows players to farm Gun Parts in the early game. However, this mission is easy to miss, and once completed, it cannot be repeated. Here is the breakdown.

How to Get Gun Parts Early in Ghost of Yotei
Gun Parts are primarily found in Oshima Coast, the last major region in Ghost of Yotei. However, Oshima Coast is the very last region players will unlock during a playthrough since accessing it requires completing a lot of main story missions beforehand (more details below). Fortunately, there is a way to get Gun Parts earlier, before reaching Oshima Coast.
During the tale “The Odachi’s Redemption,” Atsu faces off against a large group of raiders sent by the Saito Brothers to kill the Odachi Master in Tokachi Range. Interestingly, a large number of these enemies wield guns, and as a result, have a chance of dropping Gun Parts when killed. If you pick up a Gun Parts from the dead bodies of one of these enemies, it will be permanently added to your inventory.
Female warriors with muskets and brutes with cannons drop Gun Parts.
Then, choosing “Restart from Last Checkpoint” from the pause menu will reset the encounter with those enemies, allowing you to farm more Gun Parts by killing them again.
If you do not kill the last enemy, and keep reloading from the last checkpoint over and over again, you can amass a lot of Gun Parts very quickly, provided you can kill these enemies easily.
Killing the last enemy during “The Odachi’s Redemption” will complete the quest, and you will not be able to farm any more Gun Parts. Make sure to reload before this happens.
How to Start The Odachi’s Redemption
There are a few requirements to starting The Odachi’s Redemption quest in Ghost of Yotei:
- Unlock the Odachi
- Complete Junpei the Snatcher Bounty
- Complete Inokichi the Hungry Bounty
- Liberate Huranui Mill
- Liberate Marshlands Homestead
After all of the prerequisites are complete, the icon for “The Odachi’s Redemption” will appear on the map at Master Yoshida’s Dojo, signaling that you can start the quest.
How to Reach Oshima Coast in Ghost of Yotei
For players who have completed “The Odachi’s Redemption” and do not have a way to reload to an earlier save without losing a lot of progress, the only way to obtain Gun Parts is by going to Oshima Coast. The path to this location is blocked by the Matsumae samurai during the early and mid-stages of the game, and only unlocks when the prerequisites are met.
You will need to complete the following main missions in Ghost of Yotei to unlock Oshima Coast:
- Main Tale: The Oni
- Main Tale: The Kitsune
- Main Tale: The Saito Brothers
Once the prerequisites are met, Chapter 2: The Onryo will begin, and the main quest marker will guide you to Oshima Coast.
